W5Go Apps for Social Good!

W5Go Free Educational Apps for Social Edification!

If you have checked the app stores lately looking for a fun, educational and safe app for your toddler you might see a lot of apps “designed for children” are full of in-app purchases, advertisements and are missing educational content. 0325_3

Each episode of W5Go is carefully designed for children 5-8. Our main focus is to get children excited about learning. We want them to run from our app excited to tell their parents, friends, and teachers what they have learned.

Our apps have a unique layout compared to others designed for children. We have episodes teaching children various topics, followed by games to help children retain what they just learned.

We believe in having an equal balance between work and play! In our newer apps, you need to play through the episodes/ lessons before unlocking related games.

We are part of a social edification project by QiiQ this allows us to create apps that are Ad-Free and offer freemium content while being primarily funded by QiiQ and grants. We understand many are unable to afford apps which is why we designed W5Go to be able to unlock all features by playing through the app. If you would like to unlock games faster a $0.99 Star pack is available for purchase, to contribute or donate to W5Go development please contact w5go.official@gmail.com.

W5Go Structure
We refer to each app as a “Season” and each season has several “Episodes” related to the main topic. For example, our season healthy kids have three episodes.

What is Social Edification?

QiiQ for Social Edification™, a new category defined and championed by QiiQ.

W5Go is a project for social edification created by QiiQ. W5Go aims to encompass as many of theUnited Nations Sustainable Development goals as possible with every episode we release. So far our episodes, blog posts, youtube videos, and social media have targeted five of the seventeen sustainable development goals.

Quality Education

E_SDG goals_icons-individual-rgb-04We believe everyone deserves the right to a quality education no matter their circumstances. W5Go’s mobile episodes and videos are created for the audience of children aged 3-7. They are easy enough for a child to follow on their own without parental guidance.

We thoroughly research all of our applications to create fun educational content for children to learn and explore. Within every app, we choose a topic and ask the children the W5 to encourage them to think and question what they are seeing. We then ask them to dig deeper by asking questions like “What if?” and “Why not?” W5Go believes you can always push boundaries and learn more. By asking “What if?” and “Why not” it opens doors to your imagination which intern sparks innovation. Each episode teaches 20+ English words through voice-overs, text, and animations for fun interactive learning.

Most of our applications have virtual and augmented reality experiences. Due to the rapid growth of technology, we want to gradually introduce children to modern technology. We use smartphones to portray these experiences, no fancy headsets required, just a smartphone with a gyroscope and a back-camera. Also, for young children to use technology, not using a headset is much safer as there are still aware of the environment around them. W5Go believes children from all walks of life should be able to experience the newest technology.

All of our applications are free to downloads, free from ads, no in-app purchase and do not require wifi after the initial download. W5Go wants to make it as simple as possible to get the educational tools to children to see them succeed.

Gender Equality

E_SDG goals_icons-individual-rgb-05A major concern in society today is gender equality. W5Go works to create episodes that are as gender neutral as possible. We want to teach children to respect one another no matter their gender, race or sexuality. At the moment we care carefully crafting an episode and song about bullying, in which we wish to teach children the importance of thinking before you speak or act.

Peace and Justice Strong Institutions

E_SDG goals_icons-individual-rgb-16We try to include the peace and justice strong institutions goal in our apps by promoting children to have integrity. So they can understand what is right and wrong, and stand up for injustices when they encounter them. We believe by teaching these morals at a young age, children will grow up with a strong moral compass. Children are our future we must teach them what we know and let them learn from our mistakes. Some of these children will grow into powerful roles within companies and countries, having a strong sense of integrity is very beneficial.

Good Health and Well-Being

E_SDG goals_icons-individual-rgb-03Across many of our episodes, we try to educate children on good health and well-being. In our Forest episode, we show how beneficial taking a walk through a forest can be for your mental health. We also focus on our blog to give tips on how to handle stress and  Our episode Dialogues shows a Grandma talking to her grandson about the importance of a healthy hygiene routine.

Zero Poverty

E_SDG goals_icons-individual-rgb-01Knowledge is power! W5Go’s objective is to bring children to an even playing field when it comes to education when in or starting kindergarten or preschool. We want to make education available to everyone in any situation.

We believe education is the key to ending poverty. When people are educated they have more opportunities to advance in their lives and career. Everyone should have an equal chance to excel, no matter their environmental upbringing. W5Go wants to give children the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty. This is why all of our applications are free to download, have no in-app purchases, no advertisements and do not require wifi.

How do we do it?

We’re often asked,  “Where do we make money?” or “How do we afford to make these applications”
We are a social edification project headed and funded by QiiQ, a wholesale carrier voice service provision and managed services for retail telecom service providers. W5Go is a project created by and managed by Carl KS Teo, CEO & Founder of QiiQ.

This is all done for social good!

Why Riddles are so Great for Childhood Development

Fun Lessons

Riddles are great for all ages! They teach us so many life lessons, words, wordplay, problem-solving and comprehension. Riddles are fun and easy to remember, often children share the riddles they hear, helping them become more social.

Improve Vocabulary

Riddles are usually told in a creative way with more advanced words. When kids want to share riddles, that’s after they understand the whole context. Riddles also encourage kids to ask about words they can’t understand yet.

Funny Word Play

You know how most kids are when it comes to funny things. Children tend to love slapstick comedy and childish jokes. To improve a child’s taste in humor, you can give creative riddles to them. Riddles can entertain a child and get his brain working at the same time.

Comprehension

Many kids can read at such a young age but can’t fully understand context. In order for a child to share riddles with other people, he must fully understand the riddle first. With great understanding comes great comprehension.

Problem Solving

Practicing riddles help children to think outside of the box. This becomes so useful when it comes to academic testing. Through riddles, children are able to practice creativity, logic, and comprehension. Taking these skills

Most tests in schools rely on creativity, logic, and comprehension. Riddles can improve a kid in all those areas. They can improve the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of a child.

Family Bonding Time

4 Ways to Make Eating Fun for Children

Children can often be picky eaters and when it comes to dinner time things can sometimes get messy. You want the best for your child obviously, and ensuring they get all their vitamins and nutrients, but sometimes those good vitamins come from fruits and veggies your children just don’t like.

How can we make food fun and exciting for children?

Colour! Colour! Colour!

Children love colours! Naturally colourful foods are naturally more appealing for children and often provide more vitamin and nutrients than boring dull coloured foods.

EataRainbowHave you heard of Eating a Rainbow?  Fruits and veggies come in a variety of colours, each colour has its own unique vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and natural plant chemicals that give them their distinct colours.

You can judge the number of nutrients on your plate just by looking at the colours. Making food that is very colourfull not only makes it more appealing for children but also more nutritional. Create a rainbow of colour on your plate!

Make it Interesting!

What is your child currently interested in?  Math, Art, Geography, or maybe a movie like frozen? Try creating meals according to themes.
In my household, we like to explore cultures and will have greek night, Mexican night and so on.

This not will not only make your child interested in the food their eating but can act like a little lesson learning about foods and cultures. Introduce them to food items you might not normally find in your homes such as naan bread or maple syrup (depending on where you live of course).

The presentation is key! If your child doesn’t think it looks appealing it will be a struggle to get them to even try it. This is where you can get creative!
Ideas:
Fun Shaped Food
Fruit Kebabs
Happy Burgers or Pancakes!

Make a happy face out of your ingredients

Dip it! Children love to dip their food. Use healthy dip options for vegetables like yogurt.

Get them involved!

There are so many benefits by getting your child involved in the kitchen, not only does this provide precious family bonding time but it also allows children to learn new skills.

From farm to table get your children involved meal preparations and they will have a lifetime love and appreciation for their food.

Start at the store, take them to the grocery store or market and show them where we gather our foods from. Give them the option to pick you a couple fruits, veggies or full meal they would like for dinner. We all feel more connected to something we have contributed to. Help them make good choices at the store explain to them the difference between good nutritious food and junk food.

Take them on a field trip! Taking them to the farm to see where their food comes from, meet the farmers who grow it will not only help them develop an appreciation for the hard work that goes into producing food but also gets them excited about food!

Why Puzzles are Good for Children

Puzzles can be so much fun for children and adults, they come in all shapes and colours, with many different themes. It is no wonder children absolutely love playing with puzzles. Not only do they provide hours of entertainment they are also a valuable source for educational development.

Sharpen Cognitive Skills

Cognitive skills are the core skills your brain uses to think, read, learn, remember, reason, and pay attention. When playing with puzzles a person needs to utilize these skills, practicing and sharpening them, all while having fun.

Playing with puzzles increases their visual spatial awareness and develops a deeper understanding of these themes and topics.Cute asian little girl is trying to connect couple jigsaw puzzle

Develop Fine Motor Skills

When children play with puzzles, they are required to pick up, grasp, pinch and move pieces around, sorting them into the correct places.

Hand-eye Coordination

Along with developing fine motor skills puzzles are a great way to help in developing hand-eye coordination. Often puzzles require a lot of trial and error, requiring a child to move and manipulate the piece into place. This requires a lot of hand-eye coordination.

Problem Solving

What is the point of doing a puzzle? To complete it of course! Whether it be a 12 piece puzzle or thousands of pieces puzzles are all about trial and error.

354866-PAPUEP-978

When children are playing with puzzles, they must think and develop strategies on how they will complete the puzzle. This process requires cognitive skills such as reasoning and problem-solving skills, developing solutions. These are life skills they will take with them to their adulthood.

Persistence & Patients

Puzzles can take a lot of time, effort and concentration. With some puzzles being over a thousand pieces and very complicated, being able to push through and complete the puzzle teaches a child that with persistence and patients they can achieve any goal.

Social

Puzzles are a great way to bring people together. Working together to develop a strategy, and cooperating together to complete a puzzle helps to develop many social skills. Nothing brings people together more than completing a common goal.

Self Esteem

Nothing boost self-esteem and self-worth more than accomplishing a goal. For children having something tangle-able to look back and say “Hey I did that” provides such a great sense of pride and achievement within themselves.  Working around issues and overcoming challenges boost their self-confidence and self-esteem, preparing them for other challenges in life.

Puzzles are not only a great source of fun but provide so many educational benefits! Have fun puzzling!
